Sugar N Spice providing quality care towards infants by creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment that supports each of their physical, emotional, and developmental needs. We, as caregivers, build strong, trusting relationships through consistent and nurturing interactions, by learning and responding appropriately to cues when unable to voice their wants and needs. Quality care includes maintaining a clean, safe and stimulating space with age-appropriate toys and activities that encourage exploration and interaction with early learning. Routines such as feeding, diapering, sleeping, outdoor and free play experiences, are carried out with affection and attention. While having the goal to help infants bond and have a feeling of being secure and valued. Quality care also includes offering meaningful learning and developmental experiences that promote growth, such as, sensory exploration, tummy time, music and movement, and language-rich interactions. Often there are experiences that involve music, singing, reading, sensory and fine/large muscle activities, all while being at their level These experiences encourage curiosity, strengthen motor skills, and build early social connections. Communication with families is also key, ensuring consistency between home and the centre and fostering a partnership that supports the child’s overall well-being and growth.
Our curriculum is based on the children’s natural interests, which allows them to be curious and explore the world around them. The preschool program spends many hours outdoors at local playgrounds and green spaces to enhance their learning. Building relationships with those around us are important for children to feel a sense of community. We believe that our Pedagogical practice allows for flexibility within our program schedule, so children can learn and thrive without being rushed. We value nature and the outdoors so when we cannot go outside, we bring the outdoors in! Indoors, we provide the children with loose parts which are open-ended and allow children to use their own unique ideas to be creative. There are no limits to what they can learn. We enhance these experiences by observing, listening, and documenting and guiding. Then, we can provide them with the tools they need to grow and have continued success!
